Sample # 1 STUDY PLAN FOR GRADUATE STUDIES
ACADEMICS AND STUDENT BACKGROUD:
Throughout my education I have shown good results in my academics. I want to mention here that English was taught to me as a subject up to Class 10th for ten years after that from class 11 to 12 and throughout my bachelors study, all subjects were in English. The language of instruction was English in University and I have taken all examination in English and passed. So I have no hesitation at all to study further and do research work in English. So I can read, write and understand English without any problem.
In Matriculation (Grade 9 & 10) examination conducted by Board of intermediate and secondary education Lahore I obtained 92 % marks and stood first in school (copy is send with application). Then I succeeded to secure a seat in Pakistan most famous College, Government College University Lahore. In Grade 11 & 12 (Intermediate) I took Physics, Math, English and chemistry as my subjects and passed its examination Conducted by Board of Intermediate and Second Education Lahore, with distinction and secured 91 % marks (copy is attach with application). Now after higher secondary school I passed the entrance test to university and got admission in B.Sc Mechanical Engineering in University of Engineering and Technology Lahore. This university is very famous in Pakistan among people and only most talented students get admission in the University from all over Pakistan. In B.sc Mechanical Engineering I remained focused on my studies and secured an overall CGPA of 3.48/4.00 (degree and transcript are uploaded to website). In seventh semester I studied hard and obtained a GPA of 3.7/4.0. I completed my bachelor’s in Oct, 2013.
I was able to secure a job in Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) as Post Graduate Training Program that was an achievement (I have proof). But I did not join PAEC because company wanted me to fill the bond to serve them for seven years and there were also some restriction that would have ended my social life and also because I actually did not like nuclear field very much. I associated with field of teaching after that. I am a private tutor and teach Singapore syllabus at school level and I am currently teaching till today. In Sep, 2016 I did internship in Orient Electronics Private limited Multan Road Lahore and I saw there that they are only assembling Refrigerator, Air Conditioners and Water Dispenser. And they did not need Engineers but they only need workers and managers to manage labors. I got disappointed and did not wish to do job in these types of companies (you can find details about internship in my CV). The energy crisis has destroyed the industry of Pakistan and the market is saturated with engineers.
So I am interested in strengthening my academic proficiency by pursuing Masters in Mechanical Engineering in China on Chinese Government Scholarship and do job in China after studies if possible. I will learn Chinese Language. I want to contribute in the field of science and to serve humanity. My passion is to serve humanity by seeking knowledge and contributing in the field of science by research work.
I want to mention here that I do not have any acceptance letter from any professor because it took me a lot of time to understand the procedure for applying masters so there is no time left to ask for it now so I am directly applying to universities.
REASON TO STUDY IN CHINA
One may ask why I do not do masters in Pakistan. The reason is that at higher studies the quality of education is very poor and there are not adequate laboratories to carry out research work in most of the universities of Pakistan.
On the contrary, China is an advanced country with a lot of top ranked Engineering Universities. And one more attraction to this scenario is Chinese Government Scholarship for citizens of third world countries like Pakistanis who cannot afford expensive education of China. As I told you earlier the other reasons are my passion to get more learned and serve humanity by doing research work in the field of Science and Engineerng.
I am a humble person with flexible nature. Flexibility is life and rigidness is death. As a little baby’s body is very flexible but when one dies one’s body become rigid.
The most beautiful thing about me is I am always ready to accept good changes in me. And I also believe that the environment and people around a person bring changes in his personality. So I want to come to China and in Chinese Universities, Professors and teacher will change me to a better person than I am today.
I do not look down upon any cultural or religion. But I only respect good people without gender discrimination. I have bear but I am not a religious extremist. I respect China and its people and want to take good things from them in my personality.
STUDY PLAN IN CHINA:
I am interested in securing a seat of Master in Mechanical/Thermal Power/Power Machinery/ Fluid Dynamics with research option in Turbomachinery, on Chinese Government Scholarship-Chinese University Program. And my preferences are as below
- E in Power Machinery and Engineering/Thermal Power Engineering with research work in Turbomachinery thermodynamics.
- E in Fluid Mechanics with research option in Turbomachinery.
- Master of Sciences/Engineering in Flight vehicle design
I have an enormous interest in Thermo-Fluid Sciences of Turbomachinery and I can choose “Thermal Power Engineering” for my masters program if I can choose Power Machinery or Turbo machinery for research topic. As I study my course work in Master I will decide then which specific topic is to choose for research or thesis. I may choose heat engines or turbo machinery to conduct research on, for thesis. I already have good concepts on Combined Gas and Steam Power plants and In B.sc I secured “A” grade in this subject. In short I will choose research topic under the umbrella of Thermal-Fluid Sciences.
If the Masters in Fluid Mechanics with research option in “Turbo machinery and Propulsion” is available, I am interested in it and want to do it. But if master in fluid mechanics with the above mentioned research field is not available or university does not have required laboratories to carry out research in field of Turbo machinery and Propulsion then the other options are “Thermal Power Engineering” and Flight Vehicle Design”.

Another option is masters program of “Flight Vehicle Design” which is a sub discipline of Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering and I also find it very interesting. It is also a very important field if you consider air force of a country or air journey. There is a continuous need of making fighter aircraft of good design. In this matter an assistant professor from my previous university told me that Aeronautics is a narrow field and there are no job opportunities in this field in Pakistan after doing masters. So if you do not find job in China after doing masters in the Aerospace field it will be very difficult to find a job in Pakistan as well because there are no industry for aircraft etc.
Dear Professors, I have given you three options for the Master’s Program in the above paragraphs to give me admission. And these masters programs are Thermal Power Engineering with research options in turbomachinery or Power machinery, Fluid mechanics with research options in turbomachinery and masters in Flight Vehicle Design. Now it is your privilege to give me admission in any one of the programs that is available in your University and that have better future prospects.
Sample # 2 Study Plan for Graduate Studies
Academic Background: I have completed my undergraduate studies in Electrical engineering from “ABCD University of Engineering and Technology”, , Pakistan, in March 2012, with a CGPA of 3.86 out of 4.00. I was an active somehow indulgent student among others during my undergraduate studies, very often involved in many curricular and co-curricular activities. In fact, I was up to the mark and honored in the top 1’slist of 120 students in my undergraduate class. If observed by the meritorious efforts I remain very competent and I have passed all entrance tests conducted by the academic institution of my education with high achievements and secured overall 4th place in the whole district. I did my final year thesis project on “Design, development and fabrication of under/over voltage relay using static devices” with the group of five members in which I was made the Group Leader. The fabricated relay can be used for the automatic protection of house hold appliances and power system against voltage related problems. In this project, I learned and researched automated control and protection using Circuit Breakers and Relays along with other high speed automatic control and protecting equipment’s involved in automation of the modern systems. While working on this project I found strong motivation in myself towards graduate study and research in the area of power system automation .At present, I am working as a Maintenance Engineer in Dawlance Group of Companies(the leading household appliances company in Pakistan); my job’s major responsibilities include; Maintenance and Automation of industry’s power system and machines along with the planning and the proper allocation of available resources to achieve the smooth and efficient operation of the plant by conducting routine and reactive preventive maintenance activities. Here, in Dawlance, I have learned, researched and practically implemented the applications of electrical automation engineering in manufacturing process along with the extensive knowledge of Electrical automation devices like digital relays, vacuum and oil circuit breakers, Programmable Logic Controllers, Programmable automation controllers, Human Machine Interface and instrumentation devices. Furthermore, I Led the project “Energy saving by the optimization of electric motor usage” with annual savings of 1.2 Million PKR by conducting efficiency analysis, Right sizing of installed motors, formulating the saving calculations and obtaining USAID OFFER by negotiations with vendors and USAID audit authorities. Also because of ardent interest and motivation towards power system automation, I was selected for 16 weeks internship in National Transmission & Dispatch Company; the sole electric power transmission company of Pakistan. Where I gained quality level knowledge and working experience about Grid System Operations (GSO), Protection and Instrumentation (P & I), SCADA, Metering and Testing (M & T). Along with these technical aspects I also earned practical knowledge about transmission system planning including Power Flow Studies, Reactive power compensation studies, Reliability and Stability Analysis with respect to interconnection of distributed generation with transmission system.My work at NTDC was highly praised and I was awarded with the certificate ofappreciation by the senior management.
My Personality: By fact, I am socially active person with friendly nature, a good communicator indeed who is blessed with many friends. I keep a keen view to the reality of life thus approach people with positive mind and attitude and always prove to be helpful with honest efforts and true dedication. Besides that, I always feel very joyous and fortunate to meet and greet people belonging to different backgrounds and cultures. As such meetings are always important because they prove to be beneficial in future also it makes things easy to cope whether one works or studies in his own country or outside the country.
Study Plan in China: I would like to apply for the Master’s Degree in Electrical Power system and its automaton in China because from my current industrial job experience, past internship and my final year project I come to know the vast practical applications of the automation engineering, this caught my attention and created a thirst of knowledge in me to study my chosen course. My motto is to work in an international field related to Electrical Engineering. Therefore, I would like to gain deeper theoretical and practical knowledge in starting and managing most innovative projects. During my studies, with great hidden abilities in myself I will try to come up with the best of everything; to accompany the professors and university colleagues in carrying out research and exploring for immense exciting industrial mysteries in the field of power system Automation. My recent research was “Graphical password authentication using images sequence”. In this research I worked on images and then uses these images for authentication. Currently I am working on my final year project, that is “Face Detection and Images Recognition” in this project images will be capture from the videos with specified interval (video may be from YouTube or Personal Directory) and will recognize these images and then detect faces from captured images. - Advanced knowledge of (i.e. to describe, analyse and reason about) basic algorithms for image manipulation, characterization, filtering, segmentation, feature extraction and template matching in direct space and Fourier space.
- Advanced knowledge of how monochrome digital images are represented, manipulated, encoded and processed, with emphasis on algorithm design, implementation and performance evaluation.
- Advanced knowledge of methods of capturing and reproducing images in digital systems.
- Knowledge and understanding of the mathematical methods commonly used for representing, compressing and processing signals and images.
I will use different mathematical techniques in colour imaging and demonstrate the use of tools such as spreadsheets and specialist maths applications to solve problems in signal and image processing. I will also try to explore a range of practical techniques, by developing own simple processing functions using library facilities and tools such as, e.g., Matlab or Python. I will implement the techniques in the topics studied and compare their performances in certain image processing tasks. I will use relevant and suitable methods when carrying out research and development activities in the area of image processing.
